# ZeroLog Desktop

A native desktop app for zerolog.ch with two separate workspaces, Chat and Code. Same account and same server state as the web.

**Vorschau.** Preview status. Vorschau, die Download-Seite folgt.

## Native, without a browser engine

The app is written in Qt 6 and Qt Quick (C++). It contains no Electron, no WebView and no Chromium or CEF. An automated check fails the build if a browser engine ends up in the package. Web pages you need, such as the login confirmation, previews and payment, open in your normal system browser.

## Platforms and requirements

- **Now**: Windows 10 version 1809 or newer, or Windows 11, 64-bit.
- **Later**: macOS and Linux. For Linux, Flathub and an AppImage are planned. A Microsoft Store package (MSIX) is planned as well.
- **Disk and memory**: About 150 MB of disk space, 4 GB of RAM recommended.
- **Account**: An internet connection and a zerolog.ch account. Containers need a plan with containers, from Mini.

## Signing in

The app uses device pairing. It shows a code. You confirm that code in the system browser where you are already logged in to zerolog.ch. No password is typed into the app. The device token is stored in the Windows Credential Manager. To revoke a device, open the web settings and go to Geraete.

## What works today

This list names only what has been tested live against the real service.

### Chat

- Chat list, server search, pinning and new chat.
- Model choice.
- Streaming answers that survive connection drops and app restarts, and a stop button.
- Attachments through the file dialog and by drag and drop, text and images.
- Edit and send again, send again, and branch from a message.
- Question cards and tool approvals.
- Native Markdown with tables and code blocks, including highlighting and a copy button.
- Cost per answer as booked, a context meter and the remaining credit.

### Code

- Container selection.
- File tree with create, rename, move, delete, upload and download.
- An editor that saves with a content check and shows a conflict instead of overwriting.
- A native terminal.
- Git: status, stage, commit, branch and diff.
- An agent session bound to the container, with approvals and a list of changed files.
- Review of changes block by block.
- Buttons for tests and build that run in the container.
- Preview links that open in the external browser.

### Container view

A list of your containers with the measured state, CPU and RAM, start and stop, and snapshots within your plan. Plan limits are shown as the server states them.

## Known limits

- This is a preview. Many web areas are not native yet and open in the browser: agents and jobs, design, media, research, settings, billing pages and admin.
- Missing: voice, folders, chat export, VM management and compaction.
- The terminal and the agent's tools run in two different runtimes of the same container. Files created through the file view can be read from the terminal but not changed there.

## Installing

The installer installs per user under `%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\ZeroLog Desktop`. It needs no admin rights. To uninstall, use Windows Settings, Apps.

The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn. The warning reads "Unbekannter Herausgeber" (English Windows: "Unknown publisher"). Choose "Weitere Informationen" ("More info"), then "Trotzdem ausführen" ("Run anyway"). Before you run the installer, compare its SHA-256 (PowerShell: `Get-FileHash .\ZeroLog-Desktop-Setup-0.1.0.exe`) with the value the download page will list once it is published.
