# A bigger box for new chats 2026-11-04 · Product > On the start screen, all tools now sit above the message box, which has far more room for text, images and files. The input on the new-chat screen used to be a single line with the tools beside it, which left little room to write. The tools (attach, workspace, dictation, browser, tool switch and tool picker) and the model selector now sit in a row above the box. Below it, the text field is several lines tall and grows as you type. Attached images and files appear between the tool row and the text. *Tools on top, a roomy text field below, send at the lower right.* This applies to the start screen of a new chat in the dark theme. Chats with messages keep their layout. No settings change is needed.
