Cloud development environment

# A cloud development environment in Switzerland

ZeroLog gives you a Linux container on servers in Switzerland, with an AI agent next to your code. Your chats, files and workspace disks are stored there. The model that answers is not: it runs at a provider in the USA. This page shows where that line is.

~/project Overview

```
# where things run
Switzerland: chats, files, workspace disks, your container
Germany: gateway for outbound traffic from containers
USA: model inference at Featherless
```

## What you get

- **A Linux container of your own**

  Pick Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 12 with Node.js, or Alpine with Python. Install packages with apt, compile code, run a database or start a service. A container starts at the Mini plan.
- **Isolated from other users**

  Your workspace is its own container. Workspaces cannot reach each other over the network, even on one machine. They run on gVisor, a userspace kernel. For untrusted code you can choose the VM class, which gives the workspace its own small kernel.
- **Files stay**

  Files persist across restarts and across chats. Pausing a container frees its slot and keeps the disk until you delete it. Every workspace exports as Dockerfile and compose.
- **You approve commands**

  A command the AI wants to run waits for your approval first. Credentials you attach go through the secrets vault and never appear in the chat in clear text.

## Where your data goes

- **Stays in Switzerland**

  Chats, files and workspace disks are stored on the server in Seon (Aargau), Switzerland.
- **Leaves Switzerland: model calls**

  Your prompts and the files or images you attach are sent to Featherless, based in the USA, to generate a reply. Featherless lists subprocessors in the USA, Singapore and other places without a region guarantee.
- **Legal basis for the transfer**

  Featherless confirmed that its Global DPA applies; its EU standard clauses cover EEA and UK transfers. No Swiss addendum has been agreed. The operator relies on Art. 17(1)(b) FADP for Swiss transfers and states that legal uncertainty remains for regular transfers.
- **Retention is shown per answer**

  The chat shows whether zero data retention was enforced for the model that answered, stated generally by the provider, or not guaranteed. Check it before you share sensitive code.
- **Other recipients**

  Outbound traffic from containers leaves through a gateway in Germany. Stripe handles payments. Connectors such as Gmail only receive data if you switch them on.

## What this means for your code

If the code may not leave Switzerland at all, do not send it to a model through ZeroLog. The container and its disk stay in Switzerland, but any prompt that contains code is sent to the model provider. You can work in the container without the AI and run your own tools there. You can also sign in to your own Claude or Codex account inside the container, in which case those prompts go to that vendor under your own contract.

This page promises nothing beyond what the trust page and the privacy policy state. Read them before you decide.

## Start a container

1. **Request access.**

   New accounts are opened by invitation during the private preview. Use the waitlist.
2. **Pick a plan with a container.**

   Mini and up include one. The pricing page has sizes and current prices.
3. **Create the container.**

   Choose an image and a name. The image is fixed when you create it.
4. **Attach it to a chat.**

   The agent now works inside your container. Look at the privacy status under each answer.

## Questions

- **Is ZeroLog hosted in Switzerland?**

  Chats, files and workspace disks are stored on the server in Seon (Aargau), Switzerland. Model inference is not hosted there: prompts go to Featherless in the USA.
- **Does the AI run in Switzerland?**

  No. The model runs at the inference provider, and the provider can move a request between its own locations. The chat shows the retention status for each answer.
- **Can I use it for confidential code?**

  That is your call. Anything you send to a model reaches the provider. Check the retention status, or work in the container without the AI.
- **Who runs it?**

  A sole proprietor in Switzerland. The imprint has the full details, and security reports go to info@zerolog.ch.
