Your own API key
Already paying a provider? Add your key to use that provider account instead of your ZeroLog credit. The AI providers tab lists 25 providers: OpenRouter and Anthropic are live, 18 more are beta, 5 are marked soon.

- Add a key for OpenRouter or Anthropic in Settings, Providers and keys.
- The key is stored encrypted and only its last four characters stay visible. An Anthropic key is tested with a live call when you save it.
- For each chat request ZeroLog checks whether you have a valid key and the BYOK permission.
- With both, your provider account pays and prices the request, and ZeroLog books no cost for the answer.
- Without them, ZeroLog credit pays.

What changes
An OpenRouter key replaces ZeroLog’s shared pool key for models routed through OpenRouter. An Anthropic key is checked with a live test call when you save it. If Anthropic accepts it, Claude models appear in your model list marked (your key). A request on an Anthropic model with your key never falls back to ZeroLog credit or to the pool; if the key stops working you get an error instead.
ZeroLog books no cost for answers that use your key, so no per-answer price appears. The charge and the exact price are in your provider account. Your plan still decides hardware such as containers; the key only replaces credit. Saving a key is limited to five attempts per minute, and the BYOK permission must be on for your account (new accounts have it). If an admin withdraws it, your stored keys stay but are not used.

Beta providers
Beta means the connection exists and passes tests against a simulated provider, but it has not been verified with live traffic yet. Providers marked soon cannot be saved.
Providers outside Switzerland and the EU
DeepSeek (servers in China), Moonshot Kimi (a Chinese company, servers in Singapore) and Alibaba Qwen (Singapore) show a notice before you can save a key. It says that your requests and the answers go straight to the provider under its terms and local law, that Switzerland and the EU do not recognise an adequate level of data protection there and authorities can access the data, and that you should not send confidential content or other people’s personal data. It links to the provider’s privacy policy. You must tick I have read this and still want to use this provider. The server refuses to save the key without it. The confirmation is stored with its date for you and that provider, so changing the key later needs no second tick.
Helper and checking models
The small jobs around a chat (summaries, /goal checks, Deep Research helpers, the Ultracode planner and its checkers, and more) run on a small model of your provider, on your key, without ZeroLog credit. Anthropic uses Claude Haiku 5.5 by default; for the other providers ZeroLog picks the smallest model of the newest family your key lists. You can choose another per provider under Settings, Advanced.
