/design now lets the AI in your chat do the design work
The AI in your chat now designs websites, logos and banners itself and uses the design engine to build, screenshot and check its work. A preview opens next to the chat.
Until today, /design handed your brief to a separate background model. That model planned, wrote and graded the design on its own, and you watched a job instead of working with the AI you were talking to. Some runs also stopped early because that model spent its whole output budget thinking.
Now the AI you are chatting with does the work. It writes the layout, the text and the code in your chat's container and uses the design engine as its toolkit:
- a checked starting project with your colours and fonts, raised to WCAG AA contrast where needed
- a build check that names the file and line of every problem
- screenshots at phone, tablet and desktop width with measurements, handed back to the AI so it can judge what it built
- a security check and export packages that are started once to prove they run
- offline rendering for single pieces such as a logo or banner
The preview opens on the right as soon as the AI starts and refreshes after each build. The tools cost nothing extra; you pay for the AI's messages as in any chat. Judging the screenshots needs a model that can read images.
/site still starts the unattended website builder. We also fixed three things there: its security check treated public pages as private, generated backends started before their tables existed, and chats with many images could be stopped by a wrong size estimate.
The design engine docs have the details.
