Browser extension, ZeroLog Link and one-click drives keep working through updates
During an update the browser extension now moves to the new copy of ZeroLog in about two seconds, ZeroLog Link stays connected, and one-click drives also survive updates of our front door.
If you use the browser extension, ZeroLog Link or a one-click drive or SSH session, an update no longer cuts it off or leaves the extension unreachable. No action needed.
We update ZeroLog several times a day. Each update starts a second copy of the app and retires the old one. Earlier today terminals, drives and job progress learned to survive that switch. Three more connections did not.
Text version
Extension: the old copy lets it go as soon as its running action is done, and it reconnects to the new copy by itself in about two seconds. ZeroLog Link: the relay now runs outside the app, so laptop and container stay paired on the same data stream. Drives and SSH: the connection no longer passes through the front door, so a restart of the front door does not end it.
Browser extension
The extension stayed on the old copy for up to 45 seconds, while chats already ran on the new one, so browser actions failed with "no extension connected". Now the old copy releases it right away, or after its running action or chat. The installed extension reconnects on its own.
ZeroLog Link
ZeroLog Link makes a port on your laptop, such as a local database, reachable from your container. Its relay ran inside the app, so an update closed every connection and laptop and container could lose each other. The relay now runs in the long-lived tunnel process. Revoking a Link token still ends its connections at once.
One-click drives and SSH
These connections already ended in a separate process but still passed our front door, so an update of the front door ended them after ten seconds. They now go straight from Cloudflare to the tunnel process.
Live previews of apps in your container still reconnect after an update. Internally, tests can no longer touch the live state files of our update switch. Prices, plans and terms did not change.
