Ultracode agents follow your permissions, and you can see what they do
Agents of an Ultracode run now run only what the approval level of the chat allows, and a fixed line above the message box shows their commands, errors and requests while they work.
Ultracode agents used to run every command without asking, and you saw only a count of agents. Now they follow the approval level you set for the chat, and a line above the message box shows what they do while they do it.
Permissions: the same as in the chat
Implementers, fixers and verifiers obey the level of their chat: ask every time, ask unless the command is on your list, run without asking, or bypass. One function decides for chat and worker. A request shows up in the status line with the full command and three buttons: allow, deny, allow for this run. Unanswered after five minutes it counts as denied. While it waits, no model is called and Stop still works.
Text version
The gate of the chat decides. If approval is needed, the request appears in the status line with the full command. Otherwise the command runs.
What you see
Closed, the line reads like 3 agents · Implementing · 1m 07s · $0.012. Open, it lists the agents with their live log. Every command is visible at once, up to 2,000 characters, with secrets and vault values blacked out. Errors stay in view even when the line is closed, for example Start failing: no usable verifier model for this account, attempt 5/10.
The Tools auto switch next to the message box now has a tooltip: it turns tools on or off and is not an approval level.
Where this stops
The rule applies to Ultracode runs. Background goal runs started with /goal still run without a question and follow later. The list of blocked commands is a safety net, not a sandbox: the box and the network broker stay in place.
Update of 28 October: a run now shows one status line with one count (for example 2 of 6 agents active), the agent log renders Markdown, "Allow write_file for this run" survives a worker restart, and background /goal runs ask for approval like the chat does.
